Strategic Context:
North America, Vaccines business must prioritize successful modernization this year without delay. We’re continuing the momentum of our best-in-class Beyfortus launch to reach blockbuster potential in 2024, as well as enriching our portfolio with NUVAXOVID starting with the 2025 COVID season. Our leading flu franchise is a core asset together with our mainline portfolio.
Our ambition is to grow by ~25% to become a $4 billion business by 2025, with launches every 2 years in the near-term horizon. Now, while we shall rely on the strength of our portfolio, we must become a best-in-class commercial organization to fully deliver our growth potential. Time is of the essence to modernize our business processes & technologies:
Our go-to-market transformation is progressing at pace: clinic sales and marketing teams are well advanced, other key departments are progressing as well as we want to be holistic in our effort.
In terms of processes and the way we work, we still have room for improvement in selected core areas including collaboration between field teams, and how we approach our marketing strategy as a portfolio
In terms of technology and digital advancement, there's a clear case and willingness to invest, however the team and roadmap need to be re-enforced.
Putting together process, organization, way we work and digital overhaul holistically is our immediate next step in modernization. Today is a critical moment that could make or break our progress.
About the Job:
Build a Vaccines Business & Technology Modernization function -- leading and owning a merged “transformation” role and “strategic operations” role – to be in place by end of summer.
Technology and business modernization, our next ‘big thing’ in our transformation journey
Strong business leader to be the voice & owner of our effort, working together with digital and GTMC (commercial operations), translating business needs into clear, prioritized requirements and monitoring execution.
Prioritizing quarterly solution releases serving business needs with tangible impact (not limited to milestones or infrastructure) so employees and customer see the difference (approach successfully used with mRNA CoE) in digital, processes and/or ways-of-working.
In terms of roadmap:
There is a large initial effort to lead to frame the needs, the strategy, the execution roadmap and execution for at least the next 24 months.
Business needs and solution landscape keep evolving at fast pace and continuously expanding (Incl. genAI / digital projects.
E-commerce business for North America (cross GBU), beyond the scoping and set-up phase, shall become a full P&L requiring clear business accountability – (workshop planned with McKinsey by mid May).
Gather business needs holistically for NA vaccines; Build over strategy (incl. prioritization & expected outcome); ensure delivery.
Ability to better serve our large health system customers who represent over 40% of our total revenue.
About you
You have strong commercial experience and expertise in either heavily utilizing or providing commercial capabilities, ideally in the pharmaceutical, vaccines, or healthcare industry
You have a deep understanding of the market dynamics – ideally in the US, customer segmentation and competitive strategies in the pharmaceutical, vaccines, or healthcare industry
You have an outstanding and inspiring leadership style with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
You have a strong track record in building effective working relationships in cross-functional teams as well as strong ability to manage key stakeholder relationships
You have a strong expertise and innovative spirit in technology trends/solutions, understanding cross GBU and functional with organizational savvy, and willingness to jointly push boundaries of efficiency and scale
