GP Strategies Corporation has an opening for a Senior Director of IT. This is a full-time, benefitted position. We are seeking candidates that are local to the Columbia, MD area or are within a few hours driving distance. This is a primarily remote position but we would like the person to come into the Columbia, MD office once a month or when needed for meetings, etc.
Job Summary:
GP Strategies Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of IT to lead our U.S. Government Division Information Technology department. This critical role will oversee all aspects of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and compliance, ensuring the seamless operation of our systems and the protection of sensitive data, in accordance with 32 C.F.R. Part 117 “National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual” (“NISPOM”) rule and certain internal measures to mitigate foreign ownership, control, or influence (“FOCI”). Additionally, this position will serve as the company's Technology Control Officer (TCO) and Export Control Officer (ECO), responsible for managing technology transfer and export control compliance, particularly under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as well as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the U.S. Government Division IT department, including network administration, cybersecurity, software development, and IT support in accordance with 32 C.F.R. Part 117 “National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual” (“NISPOM”) rule.
- Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the company’s objectives and ensure the security and integrity of all IT systems.
- Maintain a strong security posture to minimize risk to the company’s IT infrastructure, systems, and data assets.
- Lead forward-thinking and innovative strategic IT planning and operational delivery to provide value to customers through IT products and services.
- Formulate the overall IT strategic vision to align with and support business goals and direction, with a strong customer focus.
- Establish goals and strategies for improvement and modernization of IT systems and services to enable program productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness, and methods for measuring progress.
- Initiate policies and procedures to ensure IT operations are aligned with strategic priorities, including financial budgets, human resources, and organizational planning.
- Position the organization to achieve success through the delivery of cost-effective, innovative, reliable, and emerging technologies, and through strategic procurement of hardware, software, and user-centered IT solutions.
- Oversee the maintenance, upgrade, and optimization of IT infrastructure to support current and future business needs.
- Ensure compliance with all federal regulations related to IT, cybersecurity, and data protection, including CMMC.
- Serve as the Technology Control Officer, managing and monitoring the use of technology to ensure compliance with export control laws and regulations.
- Serve as the Export Control Officer, overseeing compliance with ITAR and other relevant export control regulations.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure IT systems meet operational needs and security requirements.
- Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficient and secure operations.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for IT services and products.
- Lead incident response efforts for IT security breaches, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for IT staff.
- Prepare and manage the IT department budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

Professional/Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive experience working for a U.S. Government contractor, with in-depth knowledge of federal IT compliance requirements.
- Proven experience as a Technology Control Officer and/or Export Control Officer, with a thorough understanding of ITAR regulations.
- Active Top Secret Personnel Security Clearance.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, including CMMC.
- Demonstrated experience in the nature and workings of a GovCon services organization, and the ability to advise Senior Leadership (including Board of Directors, GSC, FSO/AFSO, SMO, ITPSO, General Counsel, etc.) regarding evolving GovCon IT compliance requirements including NIST, CMMC, etc.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective IT strategies and solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or other relevant certifications.
- Experience with cloud computing, virtualization, and other advanced IT technologies and FedRAMP compliant solutions.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in IT and cybersecurity including sovereign clouds.
- Experience with Open Storage and SIPRNET.
