Montefiore is seeking a passionate and visionary leader to join our Nursing Education department as the Assistant Director of Nursing: Transition to Practice Programs and Simulation (full time). The position plays a key role in developing and implementing innovative educational programs and training strategies for Montefiore's nursing staff. This position will oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of nurse residency programs, facilitate the adoption of new technologies and platforms, and lead the integration of simulation learning into nursing education.

Responsibilities:
- Program Development and Management:
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of nurse residency programs across various specialties (Med/Surg, Critical Care, Maternal Child Health, NICU, Emergency Services).
- Collaborate with clinical faculty and program assistants to refine existing programs and identify opportunities for expansion.
- Oversee the implementation of the Elsevier Transition to Practice Platform and OVID Synthesis, ensuring effective utilization and user support.
- Partner with simulation experts to design and implement a simulation learning program, achieving accreditation readiness.
- Assess department staffing and educational needs to inform program development and resource allocation.
- Lead the onboarding process for new nurses, ensuring smooth integration into their roles and specialties.
- Plan and deliver in-house educational sessions or utilize external experts to address identified learning needs.
- Work one-on-one with nurses to create individualized professional development plans, aligning them with departmental goals and career aspirations.
- Leadership and Collaboration:
- Mentor and support campus nursing leaders and clinical faculty in delivering effective nurse residency programs.
- Foster productive relationships with clinical affiliates (undergraduate/graduate schools of nursing) to enhance training opportunities.
- Collaborate with the AVP of Nurse Learning & Scholarship on departmental strategic initiatives and projects.
- Communicate effectively with staff, faculty, and leadership on program updates, goals, and progress.
- Collaborate with department and team leaders to assess future skill and knowledge gaps for their teams and proactively develop relevant educational programs.
- Evaluation and Quality Improvement:
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nurse residency programs and other educational initiatives, collecting and analyzing data to inform continuous improvement.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in nursing education and incorporate them into program development.
- Conduct periodic reviews of program resources and budgets, optimizing resource allocation and utilization.
- Maintain awareness of current evidence-based practices in nursing and adult education, incorporating them into program updates and professional development initiatives.
Qualifications:
- New York State Registered Professional Nurse License and current registration.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field required.
- Master’s degree in nursing (MSN), with a focus in Education or Administration, preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in nursing education, preferably in a healthcare system setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, program administration, and evaluation methodologies.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor staff.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage complex projects.
- Familiarity with simulation learning technologies and best practices a plus.
- Experience in leading nurse onboarding and integration programs.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective educational sessions or collaborate with external experts.
- Proven skills in individual coaching and professional development planning.
- Advanced knowledge of current trends and advancements in nursing education.
- Active RN license in good standing with the state of New York.
