SALARY RANGE: $77,191.00 - $123,343.00 ANNUALLY

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.

SELECTION PROCESS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:EDUCATION: Have a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have four years of experience in performing engineering work.
OR
(NOTES) EQUIVALENCIES: Have a master's degree in engineering may be substituted for the Bachelors of Science degree in engineering OR for two years of the experience requirement.
LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS: Professional Engineer (PE) from the State of Maryland is preferred.
Some positions in this class require an Engineer-In-Training certificate from the State of Maryland.
Some positions in this class require an Engineering Technologist certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
Some positions in this class require current licensure as a Professional Engineer issued by the Maryland State Board of Professional Engineers or equivalent out-of-state license.
Some positions in this class require a valid Maryland Class C Non-Commercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Knowledge of the methods of engineering analysis.
- Ability to develop engineering plans, designs, specifications and material and cost estimates.
- Ability to assign, review and approve the work of engineering personnel.
- Ability to write technical reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
