We are hiring a U.S. Communications – Corporate and Policy Communications Lead to join our team in our Washington, DC Office. About This Role:
As a Corporate and Policy Communications lead, you will be responsible for both internal and external communications.
Your primary focus will be on supporting UCB’s corporate reputation with a focus on storytelling around topics like value, health equity, and sustainability aligned to UCB’s corporate voice. You’ll ensure that all materials and messaging align with the UCB brand and narrative. A deep understanding of the policy environment and key thematic issues that are relevant to the healthcare industry as well as collaboration with the U.S. Corporate Affairs team will be essential.
Who You Will Work With:
You’ll collaborate closely with the U.S. Corporate Affairs team and global communicators to drive U.S. internal and external communications.
Initial priorities include updating corporate and value narratives to support key business priorities.
Your role will require a deep understanding of public policy, access, pricing, and healthcare industry transformation.
Successful engagement of key audiences will involve collaboration across corporate communications core functions, including digital, internal, external, community engagement, and public affairs.
What you’ll do
- Leads development and implementation of both corporate and value communications strategies ensuring connectivity between external and internal communications.
- Acts as a brand champion for the UCB corporate brand in the U.S., ensuring consistency across corporate materials and the corporate website.
- Translates complex policy and pricing topics into effective written and verbal communications, including narratives, messaging, and thought leadership.
- Provides strategic communications counsel and support on broader enterprise on policy, access, pricing topics, and sustainability.
- Amplifies the UCB story and reputation through proactive storytelling that support business and corporate priorities, including topic areas such as value, sustainability, health equity, and more.
- Protects and enhances UCB’s reputation through effective public relations strategies and tactics, including crisis communications.
- Represents the UCB brand and communications perspective in trade association meetings and workstreams.
- Drives effective leadership communications opportunities externally for key U.S. business leaders.
- Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders (globally and locally) to develop and drive key messages and enable our Patient Value Strategy.
- Leverages digital platforms and tools for effective targeting and storytelling as well as paid, earned, social, and owned channels.
- Manages and allocates U.S. Corporate Communications budgets for media relations and sponsored content as well as related digital content.
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
Required:
- 8 - 10 years of experience in in public affairs or policy communications experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry. Agency or corporate in-house experience preferred.
- 8+ years experience in corporate or policy communications plans aligning internal, external, and stakeholder communications against business priorities.
- 8+ years experience managing communications in crisis situations, including creating clear directives and follow-through.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
Preferred:
- Deep understanding of the US healthcare landscape, pharmaceutical industry, and policy, access, and pricing topics.
- Strong writing skills, required.
- Strategic thinker able to develop and execute communications plans to achieve business goals.
- Solutions-oriented problem solver, capable of bringing different stakeholders to the table to find a path forward.
- Agile and adaptable work style.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, insatiable curiosity, and an established track record of hard work and dedication to results.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- High degree of professional versatility and hands-on capability with an ability to meet challenges consistently and confidently with energy, drive, and personal commitment.
- Demonstrated ability to bring together stakeholders and build consensus on strategies among peers and across different reporting structures.

Expected Salary Range: $141,760-$186,060 based on experience
