Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission aligned HR Manager with the Human Resources Department.
The HR Manager will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
The HR Manager ensures that new hires receive proper training, and smoothly integrate into the company’s culture and processes. Their role contributes significantly to employee satisfaction and retention. The HR Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience at HCZ. By leveraging strong supervisory and management skills and a focus on innovation, the HR Manager will streamline the onboarding process and create a supportive and engaging work environment for new hires while supporting the organizational culture.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Human Resources) or related field.
- 4 years or more managerial/supervisory experience.
- HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and ATS (Applicant Tracking System).
Who You Are
- Knowledge and experience with accounting principles, payroll systems implementations and management.
- Strong work ethics and confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong problem solving and ability to work independently.
What You’ll Do
Administrative Duties:
- Lead and supervise HR team provide guidance, mentorship, support HR Generalist, On-Boarding Coordinator & Data Compliance Analyst) set clear expectations.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure deadlines are met.
- Oversee and ensure seamless onboarding processes for new hires; coordinate tailored training programs aimed at enhancing employee skills and performance.
- Oversee transitions or existing employees to new departments.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding process for new hires if needed.
- Coordinate with department heads to schedule new hires' training and orientation sessions.
- Delegate tasks to ensure a seamless transition for new employees, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and support for a successful onboarding experience.
- Create a process for gathering feedback from new hires to iteratively enhance the onboarding experience.
- Design standardized onboarding reporting templates to capture key metrics and performance indicators related to the onboarding process.
- Manage the processing of employment documents (offer letters, all on boarding documents) adhering to company policies and legal requirements.
- Responsible for the integrity of employee onboarding data.
- Track turnover and retention rates among new hires to improve onboarding process.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve HR processes, particularly in the onboarding of new hires. Implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to continuously improve HR strategies.
- Manage projects and perform additional duties/responsibilities as needed.
