Overview First Citizens Commercial Real Estate originates and underwrites senior secured real estate transactions. With deep market expertise, underwriting experience and industry relationships, the unit provides financing for single properties, property portfolios and loan portfolios. This Underwriter III/Underwriter IV supports the REF team at an advanced level through underwriting, analysis, and structuring recommendations for REF portfolios. Identifies, gathers, and reviews financial information to determine borrower risk ratings and appropriate loan structuring. Assesses and communicates risks within new and existing REF accounts. Provides service and support for both associates and clients, assisting in customer calls and may assist in identifying cross-sales opportunities to facilitate lending activities. Responsibilities This is an experienced Commercial Real Estate Finance Underwriter position. Underwriter will review commercial real estate loans including bridge, transitional and construction for multi-family, office, retail, industrial, and hotel properties. Collect, organize and interpret relevant market data. Review property and sponsor information – rent rolls, operating statements, construction budgets, sponsor balance sheets. Identify key transaction issues, risks and mitigation of risks. Contribute to credit approval memos and submit for approval. Participate in meetings with Credit. Coordinate due diligence information collection. Participate and manage the transaction process among key stakeholders. Write and prepare term sheets; assist with legal documentation. Assist in managing the closing process including the review of third party reports and loan documents. Participate in the management of loans post origination, including risk ratings and classification. Monitor compliance with loan terms and performance of existing portfolio of loans. Prepare quarterly and annual reviews where necessary. Work independently and collaboratively. Think critically. The base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $110,000 to 129,999 for the Underwriter III and $130,000 to $140,000 per year for the Underwriter IV position. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay. Qualifications Required Underwriter III Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and trailing twelve month analysis OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and trailing twelve month analysis Preferred Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Economics Experience: Finance, Banking Lending Skill(s): Completion of a formal credit training program preferred Experience with real estate Demonstrated proficiency with financial modeling in Excel Experience with Argus, Moody’s CMM a plus 2 - 5 years real estate underwriting, valuation or credit analysis Required Underwriter IV Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and trailing twelve month analysis OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and trailing twelve month analysis Preferred Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Economics Experience: Finance, Banking Lending Skill(s): Completion of a formal credit training program preferred Experience with real estate Demonstrated proficiency with financial modeling in Excel Experience with Argus, Moody’s CMM a plus 4 - 6 years real estate underwriting, valuation or credit analysis
