Job Description Summary
The Vice Provost for Academic Programs reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. They serve as the Provost’s chief advisor on academic programs, assessment, and student success. The Vice Provost is the Provost’s representative for academic matters related to curriculum as well as WASC and program-specific accreditation. Central to their responsibilities is the development and maintenance of high-quality academic programs and ensuring they align with the institution’s goals and external accreditation standards.
The Vice Provost responsibilities include oversight of academic program review, accreditation, undergraduate and graduate studies, regional campuses, faculty training around teaching and learning, and student success initiatives. The Vice Provost plays a key role in implementing goals and objectives related to academic programming, initiatives, and special projects. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will maintain experience with serving the needs of diverse student, faculty, and staff population as well as a record of professional integrity and fairness.
Minimum Qualifications
Terminal academic degree.
A record of teaching, research, and service to qualify for tenured professor in one of the organization’s academic departments.
A record of leadership in academic administration with the proven ability to build systems and structures.
Knowledge of strategies and support programs for student success
Experience leading an academic program as a chair, assistant/associate dean, dean, or other capacity in academic affairs.
Commitment to diversity and inclusion in all forms.
Preferred Qualifications
Ten years of experience in HigherEd administration (i.e., chair and above).
Understanding of the role of university libraries in advancing student success.
Experience with strategic planning, policy development, program implementation, and disciplinary and regional accrediting bodies.
