SDR is seeking a passionate product creation specialist to fill the role of Product Developer. This role will assist in leading the development process, with an emphasis on accessories, headwear, t-shirts and fleece. This role will Partner closely with cross-functional brand teams to manage the entire life cycle of our product. Candidates should be dynamic, hard-working, business minded, and be dedicated to maintaining high quality and performance standards as outlined by brand. This role includes but is not limited to sample management and tracking, fit, material selection, system inputs and outputs, cost analysis and negotiation as well as driving sustainability goals through best practice sourcing.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Managing assigned categories to ensure on time samples that meet target margins, design intent and brand quality and sustainability standards
- Creation and maintenance of styles, accountable for data integrity
- Daily communication with TaylorMade Production Team and vendors to ensure all samples are accurate and received on time
- Timely communication with internal/global teams on product updates
- Work with TaylorMade production team and vendors to ensure costs are negotiated to meet or exceed margin requirements are met at style and category level.
- Partner closely with Design to engineer product to meet margin targets
- Partner closely with Design team on all approvals related to product development
- Manage calendar to ensure all critical milestones are met (support peers across departments) to meet all deadline deliverables and ensure fully commercialized product prior to PO issuance
- Partner closely with production team on all production deliverables
- Be the category expert – be knowledgeable of category status and manage all reporting for assigned categories
- Take the lead on Research and Development of new materials/fabrics/construction techniques for assigned categories
- Send visual comments to vendors
- Performs other responsibilities as required
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of product construction/materials and print techniques/component level cost management and calendar adherence management
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and able to meet all deadlines without fail.
- Ability to learn and grow in a fast-paced, multi-tasking global working environment.
- Proactive with a solution/result-oriented attitude
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong MAC computer literate in Applications – Adobe Illustrator, Word, Excel, and PLM type system
- Must work well in a collaborative team environment with ability to work with overseas vendors and partners
- Experience working in a DTC and wholesale business model
Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:
- High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Design preferred
- 8+ years relevant experience in apparel product development
- Experience working with overseas suppliers or Sourcing Offices
- Experience in garment fit & construction.
- Experience in graphic art, color design, fabric & trim development.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Normal office conditions with consistent computer usage
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary
- Frequent international travel for supplier visits required
- Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials
TaylorMade is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach to compensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected annual base pay range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
