The Process & Quality Manager is primarily responsible for transferring product quality and manufacturing process knowledge by leading, coaching, and mentoring technicians and production associates.
This position is also responsible for developing, maintaining and training Quality Technicians in state-of- the-art testing and inspection techniques that comply with all Company related Quality Assurance policies. Moreover, the position works with Production to minimize waste and rework, increase profitability, and improve customer relations while improving overall quality of products produced.
Responsibilities:
Reports directly to the Plant Manager and is a key member of the plant management team. If required, will be responsible to fill in as Plant Manager in his or her absence.
Leadership role in the site World Class Manufacturing program, in alignment with site business plan.
Direct the activities of Quality Assurance team members.
Leadership role in the utilization of SPC and leaning manufacturing techniques
Maintain and improve quality control systems and procedures for all products produced at the plant.
Leadership role in the development of Standard Operating Procedures, in cooperation with Production.
Identify cost reduction and quality improvement opportunities.
Analyzes process variations; develops solutions and implements corrective actions by using advanced statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes of the variations in the process, and participates in resolving critical process and product problems with customers and vendors.
Responsibilities include designing / developing of new process systems, revising existing processes, and developing and coordinating the implementation of projects, which contribute substantially to plant profitability.
Utilizes statistical methodologies and Quality Process Control tools for establishing, maintaining and administering tests and inspection procedures while controlling and documenting changes in specifications.
Interacts with Team for operational trouble-shooting, process improvement projects, production materials requirement, raw material availability and Quality Step Zero requirements.
Analyze customer complaints and develop recommendations for corrective action, to assist sales staff at on-site complaints, and to conduct seminars.
Collaborate with the Production Supervisor on quality and process matters.
Provide summary data to Technical Services.
Coordinate process development trials with Technical Services and expedite the sharing of information.
Evaluate new raw material suppliers.
Maintain plant laboratory and associated equipment in safe working order and purchase necessary chemical and technical supplies.
Keep informed regarding industry and government standards and specification.
Develop and implement capital projects that contribute to the overall position objectives.
Assist in implementing process controls to reduce variation throughout the plant
Utilize statistical techniques to diagnose process variation.
Guide plant employees in continuous improvement of quality and process control performance
Follows all safety policies, procedures and programs; is responsible for individual safety and the safety of others.

What do you bring?
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent professional
3 to 5 years of applied professional process experience in gypsum manufacturing or related industry.
3 – 5 years of experience in project management and project engineering fundamentals.
4 to 6 years of direct supervisory experience. Proven ability to be an outstanding coach and leader, with succession planning and employee development skills.
Working knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations.
Familiarity with Lean/World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles and practices.
Able to work efficiently both independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision
Ability to work fast and accurately with mathematical calculations. Good reasoning/mechanical aptitude; ability to use various gauges.
Ability to provide leadership and innovation at all levels of the organization utilizing differing styles of management; from directive, to coaching and support, through delegation, as the situation arises.
Active interest and success in people development, training systems and error proofing.
Strong influencer with expertise in change management and conflict management.
Detail oriented with strong analytical skills. Must be well organized and have the ability to prioritize and manage several tasks simultaneously.
Results driven, flexible and open-minded with good written and oral communication.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
