Introduction to the job
You will effectively lead critical initiatives spanning Optical Fabrication Manufacturing operations. You will be a hands-on individual that seeks to uncover systemic issues and collaborate with the manufacturing staff and its stakeholder organizations to develop and drive solutions in support of safe, on-time delivery of high quality product to our customers (internal and external). You will develop a strong partnership with our sister factory in Berlin, Germany, to share best practices.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Role and responsibilities
As Optical Fabrication Manufacturing Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Understanding manufacturing department wide challenges through close collaboration and engagement with manufacturing management staff.
- Developing and maintaining strategies that assure the achievement of internal and external customer requirements through strong support of manufacturing management team members.
- Liaising with Optical Fabrication business partners in Production Engineering, Business Planning, and Operational Excellence to drive department wide initiatives in support of manufacturing execution.
- Working effectively with both manufacturing and cross-discipline stakeholders to fully understand and define problem statements.
- Displaying structured and innovative problem solving while encouraging new ideas and methods to turn issues into opportunities.
- Facilitating identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives spanning the department.
- Employing lean thinking to improve manufacturing systems across Optical Fabrication in areas such as inventory management (tracking, traceability, prioritization), raw and work-in-process inventory controls, manufacturing data analytics, manufacturing information systems and reporting, visual work place, labor planning, and equipment capacity planning.
- Developing and maintaining critical manufacturing reports which actively monitor and summarize performance and guide organizational focus.
- Communicating effectively at all levels of the organization, spanning ability to gain buy-in from technicians to the ability to influence executives.
- Representing head of Optical manufacturing in leadership meetings in their absence and assuming responsibility for operational area managers in their absence.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in engineering, supply chain management, or related field.
Experience:
- 5+ years manufacturing experience in a high-mix machining environment. Prior optical fabrication, optical coating and optical metrology experience a plus, but not required.
- Previous management experience of both non-exempt and exempt employee groups desirable.
- Strong business and manufacturing operation acumen. Demonstration of Factory Physics knowledge desired.
- Strong LEAN manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience – you can demonstrate a history of operational improvement through effective collaboration across multiple departments or disciplines.
- Computer proficiency with MS Outlook 365 applications, with knowledge of SAP or comparable ERP system a plus.
- Familiar with ISO9001 and ISO14001. Direct working experience in an ISO certified environment desirable.

Other Information
- May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, solvents and tooling.
- May also be exposed to laser energy and magnetic fields.
- Will be required to gown for clean room access and remain in cleanroom environment for several hours.
- Production areas are maintained at 70 to 75 degrees and 35-50% RH.
- The noise level in the manufacturing areas is usually moderate.
- Occasional travel may be required.
