Position Summary | Gettysburg College is seeking a skilled and dynamic server with bartending knowledge to work full-time in our Catering department. Hours for this position are generally 34 hours a week and are varied to include evenings, nights, and weekends. This position performs all necessary functions required to provide food and beverage service within the Atrium Dining room, other venues on campus, and possible off-site locations. Specific responsibilities of this position include but not limited to preparing service lines in Atrium Dining and at catered functions, verifying menus and product identification of allergens for the customers, cleaning and sanitizing serving lines and counters in preparation for next service and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. At times, this position will act as a cashier and will be responsible for filling out transaction sheets and recording customer counts, and bartending for catered events. Position will also assist with the delivery, setup, and break-down of catered functions throughout campus & sometimes off campus. Position reports directly to the Catering Manager and indirectly to all other members of the Dining Service’s leadership team.

Qualifications | A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with prior food service and bartending experience highly desired. The ability to obtain a Servsafe certification and Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) certification is required. A valid driver’s license with a favorable driving record as outlined in the College’s fleet policy is preferred. The following demonstrated abilities are necessary to successfully complete the tasks of the position: to stand, walk and reach for prolonged periods of time; to read and follow simple instructions; to work harmoniously with a large variety of individuals; to follow written and oral instructions; to provide excellent customer service; to work when scheduled; to work overtime as required; and to exhibit flexibility by working in other areas of Dining Services when needed.
