Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Summary:
Provides management oversight and direction for multiple clinic sites; clinical day to day operations of the affiliated practice with a focus on operational efficiencies to provide outstanding patient care and a safe working environment. Recommends and implements process improvements. Must be able to prioritize and multi-task duties required by multiple therapists/physicians. Possesses general knowledge of therapy/physician practice front office including patient registration, appointment scheduling, medical records and billing and reimbursement. Provides value-added management plans and services to therapists/physicians in the clinical environment by proactively developing business by building positive relationships with referring and potential referring physicians. Models and develops patient focused culture. Fulfills position responsibilities and expectations by coaching, developing and empowering direct reports. The position focus is to provide excellent clinical staff.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Two to three years of formal training beyond high school in business school, clinical area or college or equivalent combination of education and physician office experience preferred.
- Demonstrated progressive responsibility in the clinical area of a therapist/physician office or similar health care facility.
- Must be able to command a reasonable knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Possess financial management skills in order to focus on cost containment and optimal reimbursements within the clinical area.
- The incumbent shall be a graduate of an APTA approved Associate’s degree program or shall have completed equivalent training and hold an applicable and current state license or certification to practice.
- Experience working with pediatric, adult and geriatric populations is desirable.
- Experience working in the outpatient clinic setting is desirable however is not required
- Current BLS certification required or obtained within ninety days of completing new employee orientation.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manages therapist/clinical staff in a manner that promotes optimal physician productivity, safe and efficient patient care in a cost-effective manner.
- Maintains adequate staffing levels for all aspects of the clinical practice, initiating recruitment, selection of candidates, and reduction of turnover within staffing budget. Anticipates staffing needs; plans for vacant positions, anticipates, and manages fluctuations in staffing demands.
- Handles patients’ complaints and concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Reviews referral processes for efficiencies and ensures patients’ needs are met. Ensures proper documentation in patient medical record for services provided by therapists, physicians and clinical staff members and insures that HIPAA privacy and security standards are met.
- Assist in clinical areas as needed.
- Guides annual patient satisfaction surveys and employee engagement surveys at clinical level.
- Develops and implements process for responding to patient and employee concerns of a clinical nature conjunction with Administrator and Director of Practice Operations.
- Guides continuous performance improvement plans and processes within clinical areas.
- Assumes additional administrative duties and competencies at the direction of the Practice Administrator/Manager and may assume additional duties in the absence of the Practice Administrator/Manager at the discretion of the physicians.
- Report all issues to the Practice Manager/Regional Practice Administrator
