Program Director with Behavioral or Forensic Nursing experience(required)
Heritage Court Assisted Living , Generations Healthcare is in search of a Program Director to join our team. The primary purpose of this job position is to provide daily oversight of the Behavioral Health facility and to recruit, hire and supervise all mental health aides assigned to the program.
Job Summary:
The Program Director develops and implements a Behavioral Health Wellness Program that
includes the following but is not limited to social activities, life skills programs (cooking, money
management, etc.), wellness-based groups, opportunities for resident involvement in planning and
implementing groups, leisure activities, educational groups, exercise groups, community outings and
special events.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Attend IDT meeting to assimilate and disseminate pertinent information to management and
other directors.
*Forensic and Behavioral experience required
• Facilitate program development, planning and revisions.
• Oversee program calendar to ensure there are diverse groups geared towards residents
psychosocial well-being and maintain current level of independence
• Approve all resources to be used.
• Plan the frequency of Client Plan Review and update as needed.
• Responsible to interview and hire staff to ensure the needs of the residents are appropriately
met.
• Assist with development and implementation of an individual, written care plan based on
identified clients’ needs.
• Complete review and update of resident/client care plans as necessary.
• Assist with written progress notes in the record written by members of the staff providing
service ensuring the notes are specific to the needs of each client and the program objectives
and plans.
• Utilize consultative resources in planning and organization of appropriate programs for the
mentally disordered and/or services intended to enable the clients to function and maintain
independence.
• Obtain skilled training programs including but not limited to techniques of behavior
modification, training in self- help skills, sensory training, and modalities of reality orientation
and motivation therapy.
• Ensure orientation and inservice training of staff members, recognition and understanding of
emotional disorders/challenges and social needs of clients. Take appropriate action, utilizing
available community resources and services, as needed.
• Ensure patients/clients rights, program expectations, treatment services and staff are
maintained as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with
and supervise other personnel.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such
action.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors,
government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws,
regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care and behavioral health/special
treatment programs.
• Possess knowledge of direct resident care services which ensures the safety, comfort and
protection of residents.
• Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs,
goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
Education and Experience:
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have minimum of 1 year experience working in mental health field working with severe
mental health diagnoses and a passion to work with this population.
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field, preferred.
• Strongly preferred current certification to practice as a Recreation Therapist or related
discipline.
