Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial transactions. This role utilizes proper accounting procedures, best practices and strategies to help the Company reach its financial objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage the accounting processes and team responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting. Ensures accuracy and efficiency in all financial transactions and alignment with GAAP.
Responsible for timely preparation of accounting transactions including journal entries, supporting schedules, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Oversee monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close process and reports, including related Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system processes.
Prepare periodic standard and ad hoc reports and variance analysis for the management team.
Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and requirements; coordinate with external auditors to provide audit and tax schedules and support.
Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; file annual corporate tax returns.
Manage cash flow transactions and assist in cash flow forecasting.
Develop and maintain accounting internal controls, work instructions, policies and procedures.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial goals are met and accounting best practices, regulations and standards are followed.
Manage, train, and supervise team members in processes and internal controls related to Financial Reporting, Labor Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Project Accounting and Invoicing, Fixed Assets, Inventory, and Tax Compliance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices standards, regulations
Excellent leadership and communication skills with demonstrated ability to manage and mentor staff
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and accounting software
Detail-oriented and deadline-driven with the ability to work independently within the department and across functional areas
Superior data management and data analysis skills
Ability to lead a team and the Company in best practices and continuous improvement
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field of study required, CPA and/or MBA preferred
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Experience with cost accounting and payroll preferred
Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and data structures.
High level of efficiency and accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to analyze large amounts of data.
