GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in designing and implementing modern software systems, such as event-driven architecture, hybrid cloud, and more.
Position Responsibilities
As a Senior Engineer, you will:
· Partner with a range of engineering teams and provide technical and thought leadership to the enterprise, guiding our technology transformation
· Identify areas of improvement within GEICO’s software stack, and develop and execute technical software development strategy for those domains
· Be accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of solutions?
· Be a role model and mentor, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community?
· Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams?
· ?Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems?
· ?Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution?
· ?Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle?
· ?Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization?
· ?Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective?
· ?Utilize programming languages like Python, C# or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services?
· ?Mentor other engineers, across multiple engineering organizations
Qualifications
· Deep hands-on experience in complex system design and data pipeline and architectures, scale and performance, tuning, with good knowledge on Docker and Kubernetes?
· Advanced knowledge of at least one OOP language such as Java, .NET, Go, Python, C++, etc.
· Understand open-source databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc., as well as No-SQL databases like ONgDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, etc.
· Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production?
· Experience with continuous delivery (CI/CD) and Infrastructure as Code?
· Knowledge in big data and streaming data pipeline architecture (Lambda/Kafka) and K8s clusters?
· Advanced understanding of monitoring concepts and tooling, like Grafana and Prometheus?
· ?Proven understanding of microservices oriented architecture
· ?Experience architecting and designing new and current systems?
· ?Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and tools?
· ??In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms?
· Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)?
· ?Excellent communication skills – needs to be able to lead projects from the front and interact with clients and sponsors on a regular basis??
· Strong problem-solving ability?
· ?Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment?
Experience
· 4+ years of professional experience in software development, platform architecture, administration, governance, infrastructure management, installation, and maintenance of the hardware, software, and network systems
· 3+ years of experience with architecture and design
· 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or hybrid cloud
· 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
Education
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
Annual Salary
$82,000.00 - $185,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
