The G&M Staff Accountant assists with a variety of accounting activities in the accounting department for our Fuel and Retail Convenience businesses. This role will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, performing monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures, reconciling account balances and bank statements, performing fixed asset activities (capitalization, construction-in-progress (CIP), depreciation, and amortization), and supporting the quarterly ... more detailsand year-end audits. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close. Compile and report on Store-level financial and operating results. Work closely with Stores to identify and implement operational and financial process improvements. Maintain the Cost Accounting ERP system (PDI) - review costs for Inventory and Purchases while making adjustments as necessary. Responsible for end-to-end financial transaction processing and maintain accounting records such as the general ledger, trial balance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, expense, and fixed assets. Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and bank statements. Review accounts to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Monitor cash requirements and support the process to pay vendors and suppliers timely. Assist with property and state sales tax filings. Support the quarterly and year-end audit and work with external auditors as required. Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and processes in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Produce periodic financial reports in accordance with financial reporting standards. Ensure accounting records and financial statements are accurate and timely. Develop, document, and implement business processes and accounting policies. Maintain and strengthen internal controls to support the safeguarding of company assets along with the integrity of financial and accounting information. Knowledge and ability working with multiple entities, preferably multi-site retail or quick service restaurants (QSR), and consolidations. Supply technical accounting support to the organization. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
/ Requirements. Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration required . - 5 years' experience as a Staff Accountant required. Professional certification (e.g., CPA or CMA) preferred but not required. Fuel or Retail Convenience Store experience preferred. Multi-site retail or quick service restaurant (QSR) experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of full-cycle general ledger, journal entries, and cost accounting required. PDI software experience preferred. Knowledge with ERP accounting systems. Experience with Bloomberg Tax and accounting fixed asset software is a plus. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Proficiency in working with accounting records and financial statements. Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process expertise. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced MS Excel skills, including VLOOKUPS, pivot tables and macros. Good analytical and critical thinking skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent organizational and time management skills with consistent follow through. Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Accuracy and attention to detail a must. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
