Job Summary
The Orange County School of the Arts Culinary & Hospitality Conservatory is looking for culinary or hospitality school graduates, experienced Chefs, and Hospitality Managers for a part-time teaching position within our conservatory.
Both lecture and lab courses are supported with some teaching materials, and the expectation is that faculty couple their real-world experience with provided materials into this high school setting. Faculty relate their industry experience to the subject they are teaching. Classroom/kitchen management is key when executing high-quality outcomes. All classes reinforce the knowledge and skills learned in preceding courses and help students build confidence in a specific subject, i.e., Hotel Management, Food Science, Nutrition, Recreation, and Tourism.
Kitchen labs consist of basic cookery techniques that lead to a more advanced approach. The development of knife skills is accented. The kitchen lab classes explore the use of indigenous ingredients in preparing traditional and contemporary specialties for specific countries/regions and the influence that bordering countries have on a specific cuisine. The concepts of mise en place, timelines, plate presentation, and teamwork in a production setting are continued and accentuated. Timing and organization skills are emphasized.
