Job Abstract

Description

Under the direction of Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.

- Maintains a comprehensive maintenance program, repairs broker or failing equipment.

- Keeps complete records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment or service.

- Schedules and directs work assignments of assistant mechanic.

Typical Tasks:

Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in automobiles, trucks, sweepers, rollers, mowers and other mechanical equipment used in road and utility work.

- Tears down motors and performs general overhauling, grinds valves repairs transmissions, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems and high pressure pumps and valves.

- Installs and adjusts brakes; installs batteries, tires, wiring and glass.

- May do some machining or welding work in making fittings used in automotive equipment; occasionally makes emergency repairs out of the shop.

- Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment.

- Purchase of repair parts and replacement supplies.

- Maintenance of complete set of records covering equipment and parts inventory, purchases, equipment conditions, cost of repairs and preventative maintenance for all equipment.

- Maintenance of a reasonable quantity of replacement parts and supplies used for repair and maintenance of equipment.

- Regular shop area maintenance.

- Checking equipment performance in the field.

- Servicing or supervising servicing of equipment prior to operators use.

- Restricts or regulates employee use of equipment in absence of Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent if needed.

- Performs other duties as directed by Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or Western Golf Properties and its National Directors.

Requirements/Experience:

- Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus.

- Skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairs.

- Knowledge of theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines.

- Ability to diagnose mechanical trouble and determine appropriate maintenance work.

- Ability to communicate effectively and keep business records.

Physical, Environmental, Cognitive and Social Requirements:

- Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping, stand for long periods of time, sometimes outdoors exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions (hot and cold) and moderate to loud noise level.

- Frequently required to stoop, bend, crouch, and squat climb, kneel, and to twist at the neck and waist, reach above and below shoulder level, push and pull when retrieving, storing, and moving; use dominate hand and fingers to feel and grasp, push and pull and for fine manipulation.
