Under general supervision, the Automotive Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance to county-owned vehicles and equipment, as assigned in accordance with Harris County Fleet Services and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform required Vehicle Maintenance and thorough inspection of all Vehicle Systems, including Engine, Brakes, Steering, Suspension, A/C, and Electrical
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform high quality and efficient repairs with a "fix it right the first time" approach
Perform Quality Control Inspections on Vendor repaired Vehicles to ensure repairs are completed
Create Estimates and communicate directly and effectively with Service Coordinators and Parts Department
Use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) scan tools and Fleet software
Help at various shops based on workload
Perform any additional automotive or equipment related tasks assigned by management

Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited educational institution
Experience:
Minimum of one (1 ) year Dealership or Automotive Shop Repair Experience with a positive and flexible attitude
Licensure:
Must maintain a valid Texas Driver's License at all times
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Help maintain excellent customer satisfaction
Must have the ability to work well with others in a diverse and high volume environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Must move with a purpose in a high volume environment
Must have the ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments
Maintain a professional appearance and manner
Maintain a clean work space
Adhere to all County policies, procedures and safety standards

Preferences
Graduated from Technical or Trade School for Automotive Repair
Three (3) years of Dealership or Automotive Shop Repair Experience
Experience in the Automotive Industry (Dealership or Shop Environment)
