JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for understanding, developing, and mastering all aspects of color coatings for production finishing of CabinetWorks Group products.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Color Quality Specialist employs a demonstrated understanding of coating color quality (shade, gloss, etc) to generate, assess, and maintain master samples of specific coatings and finishes in conjunction with Product Marketing, Corporate Quality, and Operations.
- Validate and deliver master finish samples for use in CabinetWorks Group manufacturing locations while also maintaining “grand master” finish samples for existing and new colors.
- Lead periodic color reviews across multiple operating facilities and conduct random audits of color quality to provide feedback on color consistency to design intent.
- Work with coatings suppliers to understand and correct coating quality as needed to support CWG goals of industry leading finishes.
- Provide technical expertise to other Colors, Stains, and Finishes group members as required while providing support to Operations when finish issues arise.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in relevant technical field.
- Qualified color vision eyesight per Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in color quality
- Qualified with color and finish measurement equipment
- Demonstrated problem solving and root cause analysis skills
- The ability to compute statistical data and communicate complex statistical information to those with little background or understanding of statistics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Demonstrated work history in the furniture or kitchen cabinet industries
- Experience with industrial scale finishing equipment
- Experience introducing, maintaining, and troubleshooting finish products
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting for Extended Periods: The nature of the job involves sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods while performing administrative tasks, using a computer, and engaging in various in-office activities.
- Computer Use: Proficient use of a computer, including typing, mouse manipulation, and viewing a computer screen for extended periods is essential.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to use office equipment such as phones, photocopiers, fax machines, and printers. This may require fine motor skills and dexterity.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting and carrying of office supplies, documents, and other materials, typically not exceeding a certain weight limit (e.g., 20 pounds).
- Mobility: Ability to move within the office environment to access filing cabinets, printers, and other office equipment.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders directly in person or via electronic communication.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to read printed and electronic documents, as well as distinguish colors, for tasks such as proofreading and reviewing documents.
- Multitasking: The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work effectively, which may require mental agility and adaptability.
