• Develop and implement long term (5+ yrs) control system plans and standards for process control improvements within PGMS US.
• Ensure that site controls & automation COMAH requirements are met and act as technical lead on controls and automation inspections from the HSE, group audits etc.
• Responsible for PGMS US controls strategy, reviewing technology offerings and upgrades.
• Technical lead for dual site controls and automation projects, with values up to $500K.
• Work with other areas of JM to share and develop best practice within the controls environment across the company.
• Provide automation and process control support, advise on control system designs and provide ongoing assistance for controls aspects of operations and site led capital projects at PGMS sites in the US and globally as required.
• Evaluate control risks and classify events in compliance with PSM standards. Facilitate controls/OT security risk assessments and support PSM tasks as required.
• Implement recognised regulatory standards with regards to all control policies, procedures and functions, including safety instrumented systems. Provide controls based review of projects to ensure these requirements are met correctly.
• Ensure controls strategy, network and procedures manage OT cyber security requirements appropriately and provide technical support to sites and sector OT cyber security lead during transition to secure status.
• Work with functional safety and PSM team to ensure long term strategies align and shorter term requirements are met. 
• Support the production/development/review/maintenance/update of controls related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings and schematics in order to ensure integrity of systems and process control technologies across the wider PGMS US I,C,&E community. Lead the development of systems to facilitate these documentation requirements.
• Provide independent review and approval of controls designs and documentation across PGMS US where required.
• Support Operations and the Engineering team with escalated breakdowns, provide assistance to area engineers to troubleshoot process control problems and meet business needs.
• Guide and train area personnel on process control strategy in order to assist process control improvement efforts.
• Work with the sites to develop disaster recovery plans for control systems in line with business continuity targets, as part of the wider disaster recovery works.
• Hire and direct outside electrical contractors performing work on the controls and electrical systems

Requirements for the role:

• Degree in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation engineering with experience in designing automated electrical controls using programmable automation controllers. Strong experience with Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation Technologies
• 5+ years of industrial work experience within a chemical industry.
• Demonstrated ability to program PLC Allen Bradley PLC5, Micrologix, Compactlogix and Controllogix processors with Rockwell Automation Software.
• Experience with SCADA packages, ideally Rockwell Automation’s FactoryTalkView SE
• Demonstrated success in managing and leading both long-term programs/projects as well as address shot-term operational issues.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Project, Excel, Powerpoint, Word) as well as AutoCad.
