Overview/Purpose:
Under the direction and guidance of the Quality and Food Safety Supervisor, the Sanitation Lead coordinates and leads the activities of the sanitation team for the assigned shift to ensure the application of GMP’s and a sanitary environment necessary for the production of safe and high-quality food products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prioritize and assign daily sanitation tasks
- Verify the completion of daily sanitation tasks by sanitation and production associates
- Ensure that Sanitation Programs and SOP’s are followed to prevent contamination
- Communicate & coordinate sanitation issues & activities within the department and among other appropriate departments
- Ensure sanitation chemicals, supplies, and tools are stocked and available
- Assist in maintaining Master Sanitation Schedule in an “audit ready” state
- Assist with maintaining Sanitation Manual, updating Sanitation SOP’s and developing new ones
- Train Sanitation SOP’s including Train-the-Trainer
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing the Chemical Control Program including ordering, receiving, transporting, storing, inventory, labeling, SDS’s, diluting, and use of sanitation chemicals.
- Provide Sanitation Team support for the plant Environmental Program. Initiate a root cause analysis and document the corrective action taken in response to Environmental Program issues related to sanitation. Verify the effectiveness of the corrective action taken
- Recommend improvements to the Sanitation Program, Environmental Program, Pest Control Program, and others as appropriate
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and projects
- Complete other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three to five years of demonstrated experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role preferred
- Understanding of GMPs, SSOPs, and food safety and quality audits
- Speak, read, and write English with proficiency
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Forklift and Aerial Lift experience preferred
- Computer proficient with experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint
