Summary:
Provides training specific to all hospital-based employees across the system who utilize Revenue Cycle applications. In addition, this position provides training and training resources for Summa Health Medical Group billing, coding and front desk employees. Develops and maintains all training curriculums, manuals and tip sheets. Performs initial and ongoing education and competency testing as well as monitoring and working daily work queues, performing employee audits, and facilitating all new employee orientation for Patient Access employees. Provides appropriate feedback to employees and managers as well as participating in performance improvement plans and special audits when trends are identified.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Two (2) years college level course work in business, education or medically related discipline or equivalent years’ experience
2. Experience and Training Required:
a. Two (2) years experience in healthcare registration, billing or patient accounting field working with revenue cycle applications.
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to be flexible in shift worked to accomplish training.
b. Ability to establish productive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and possesses the ability to make logical decisions and think independently.
c. Analytical skills necessary for problem solving, ensuring development and utilization of monitoring statistics, and assisting in monitoring and preparing departmental reports.
d. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with those contacted in the course of work.
e. Ability to handle multiple tasks and determine priorities in a sometimes stressful environment.
f. Working knowledge of diagnostic and treatment services offered by the healthcare facility.
g. Knowledge of current revenue cycle system applications.
h. Knowledge of medical records correction process for inpatient and outpatient accounts.
i. Must maintain confidentiality of patient, employee and organization information.
j. Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with the Customer Service/Service Excellence Policy.
k. Proficient in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
l. Knowledge of various revenue cycle computer applications e.g., scheduling, registration, billing, scanning, medical necessity, on-line eligibility, etc.
m. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
$31.51/hr - $37.81/hr
