This individual will oversee safety, security, & environmental operations at the Petaluma, CA facility, managing a team of safety professionals and contract security officers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, experience with managing direct reports, and a strong background in supporting manufacturing operations to drive continuous improvement in safety, security, and environmental performance. The SS&E Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of employees and environmental stewardship at the Petaluma plant West, driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across the organization. Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lead safety, security, & environmental efforts at the Petaluma facility, managing a team of safety professionals and contract security officers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
Provide guidance, support, and resources to operations team fostering collaboration and alignment of safety initiatives.
Provide mentorship and support to other leaders, fostering their understanding of safety principles and practices, and empowering them to champion safety initiatives within their respective areas.
Develop and deliver training programs to engage and educate leaders across the organization on safety management systems, promoting a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits at the Petaluma facility, identifying safety, security, & environmental risks, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Serve as the primary point of contact for safety, security, & environmental matters at Petaluma, liaising with regulatory agencies, external auditors, and corporate stakeholders to ensure compliance and drive best practices.
Analyze safety and security data from multiple sites, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, and implementing targeted interventions to enhance safety and security performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and committees focused on safety, security, and environmental initiatives, representing the interests of the organization and driving alignment with business goals.
Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory updates in safety and security management, incorporating relevant advancements into operational practices.
Minimum Education
Bachelors degree in safety, occupational health, industry hygiene, or related field.
Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety, security, and environmental management with experience in the manufacturing environment.
Experience managing California environmental regulations.
Experience managing direct reports and leading teams to achieve safety and security objectives.
Proven track record of supporting multiple facilities and driving continuous improvement in safety and security performance.
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to safety and security management.
Experience Preferred
Professional safety or security certifications (CSP)
Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English)
Advanced degree in safety or business related field
Experience working in food processing facilities
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position requires occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
Travel required is approximately 10%-15% including overnight stays.
Ability to support on multiple shifts as needed.
May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
May need to access files, supplies, and equipment.
Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
When in a plant environment:
Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
