Reporting to the Accounting Director, the Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the accounting department, ensuring the company’s financial records are accurate and timely, and establishing internal controls and guidelines that comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role is responsible for implementing and enforcing company policies and procedures, is highly visible, and requires a strong manager and mentor with the ability to prioritize, plan, and execute corporate policy and procedures. Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Lead the month end and year end closes including reviewing and approving journal entries and data uploads for completeness and accuracy
Review monthly account analysis and financial reporting, ensuring the company’s records are accurate and complete
Assist with audits and provide documentation and support as needed
Collaborate with operating divisions, compliance, and finance departments to provide the accounting team with relevant information needed for the month end accounting close
Identify areas of opportunity to streamline processes and procedures
Ensure the company’s asset capitalization is compliant with established policies
Prepare ad hoc analysis at the request of accounting leadership
Support company strategic goals and projects
Mentor, train, and develop accounting team, including setting performance goals and conducting performance evaluations
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or any other related field
10+ years’ experience in accounting, with progressive responsibility
3+ years in a leadership role
Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
Knowledge of GAAP and compliance requirements
Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification such as Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or Certified Management Accounting (CMA)
A master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or any other related field
