About being our Traffic Engineer or Senior Traffic Engineer
As a Traffic Engineer or Senior Traffic Engineer with a focus on Traffic Engineering, you will support the execution and delivery of traffic engineering projects for public, private, and institutional clients in Southern California or beyond. Project work may include a variety of traffic engineering design consisting of signal, signing-striping, worksite traffic control/stage construction, as well as traffic impact studies, traffic operational analysis, safety, parking studies, signal timing, coordination, and other planning and operational projects. Typical work deliverables include but are not limited to traffic engineering plans, specifications and estimates, feasibility, impact studies, technical memorandums, reports and timing charts.
Responsibility Highlights for our Traffic Engineer or Senior Traffic Engineer
- Responsible for organizing and executing the technical quality and coordination of a broad range of project assignments requiring strong knowledge and skills of transportation and traffic engineering.
- Work may include research & analysis, traffic operations and safety studies, signage, striping, temporary traffic control/traffic handling, active transportation projects, and lighting.
- Work with team members and managers to provide all necessary design, coordination, and follow-up work to ensure agency requirements and quality standards are met.
- Prepare traffic/lighting construction documents, compiling research and development of technical reports, calculations, cost/quantity estimates, and specifications in order to provide clear, traceable, and coordinated interpretation of the design/drawings for construction.
- Represents Psomas and client to agencies and contractors, and participate in site visits, client meetings, and QA/QC.
- Assist and lead efforts for agency approvals and be familiar with local regulatory requirements and procedures.
- Supervise, coach, train and mentor technical engineering staff, assign projects to engineers with timetables for completion, and coordinate with them with technical emphasis.
- Assist in marketing activities and proposal generation on a periodical basis.
Minimum Qualifications to be our Traffic Engineer or Senior Traffic Engineer
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering and design with a focus on traffic engineering.
- Licensed/registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) and/or Traffic Engineer (TE) in the State of California.
- Technical knowledge in traffic engineering with proven experience in preparing technical reports, designs, specifications, and computations.
- Familiarity with local design and procedures, regulatory compliance and agency coordination
- Understanding of concepts of schedule, budget, and scope of services.
- Design experience using AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation.
Preferred Qualifications for our Traffic Engineer or Senior Traffic Engineer
- Knowledge in Civil 3D and/or Open Roads.

- A competitive salary! The expected range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000/salary depending on experience
Compensation may be adjusted for well qualified candidates - Sign-on Bonus is available to qualified candidates
