OPTION 1: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• A degree with an emphasis in information systems or computer science (computer operation, information systems, or network operations).
• Two (2) years general computer and/or technical experience in installing and maintaining computer networks, and one (1) year of experience in network management.
• One (1) year of current duties as Network Specialist I or equivalent level is preferred.
OPTION 2: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Graduation from high school OR General Education Development (GED) equivalent is required.
• Five (5) years general computer and/or technical experience in installing and maintaining computer networks and three (3) years’ experience in network management.
• Two (2) years of current duties must be at the Network Specialist I or equivalent level is preferred.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid Class C Driver's License and availability of private transportation.
• DMV Driving History Report
• Desired industry certifications and knowledge:
Certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA),
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE),
Systems: Windows, Apple, Cisco Systems
Networking: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Domain Name System (DNS), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Latency, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Quality of Services (QoS), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP),Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Next Hop Resolution Protocol (NHRP), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)
