SUMMARY:
The Registration/Scheduler provides clerical and patient care support for our Imaging departments. Answers phones, operates computers, registers patients, schedules appointments, and will greet patients and other visitors at the site. This position will be a 32 hour a week Friday – Monday. Additionally, this position requires the ability to work cross campuses located in Concord, CA and Walnut Creek, CA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Other duties may be assigned.
· Greets patients/visitors; registers patients, obtains copy of insurance card and processes paperwork, including verification and/or authorization for requested procedures from insurance, and verification of referrals from physicians.
· Uses computer system, inputs, retrieves, and prints patient information from stored database.
· Schedules and confirms appointments.
· Handles all calls including but not limited to: transferring, taking messages, directing callers and following up on tasks as needed.
· Demonstrates knowledge of importing and exporting images from the storage data base and releases records as needed.
· Requests patient's prior imaging studies from referring physicians and medical facilities.
· Collect, document and reconcile patient co-payments.
· Assembles appropriate billing paperwork and submit to the billing department daily with follow up if needed.
· Performs variety of clerical tasks, including copying, filing, faxing, typing, and opening mail.
· Acts as a liaison between the outpatient sites and physician offices when coordinating patient care.
· Trains new employees.
· Maintains cleanliness and order of the waiting room and department.
· Complies with specific department policies and procedures.
· Utilizes department communication system such as staff meetings and or minutes to obtain current information.
· Assists the technologist with patient care duties when needed.
· Gets direction from Clerical Lead or Site Manager at home base for daily assignments.
· Received instruction from the Clerical Lead at the site in which the work is being performed.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and six months related experience and/or training in a radiology setting preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Working knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology preferred.
· Basic computer/keyboard skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Attention to detail.
· Ability to work as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
