OVERVIEW
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is an MLS soccer club serving the greater Los Angeles area. LAFC is invested in the world’s game and Los Angeles, constructing, and developing the 22,000 seat BMO Stadium and a top-flight training center on the campus of Cal-State Los Angeles.
POSITION SUMMARY
This person is responsible for supporting the BMO Stadium A/V department in a variety of ways, including five core areas:
- Content Management
- Live Event Coverage
- Departmental Administrative Support
- Physical and Digital Inventory Management
- Preventative Maintenance and Repairs
This role will oversee the ingestion, formatting, display, and archiving of video, audio, static, and motion graphic content for all stadium A/V systems at BMO Stadium. Additionally, this person will help provide special event coverage for a wide variety of events at BMO Stadium, and therefore, must possess the ability to independently set up, operate, and strike prosumer A/V equipment at the direction of Stadium A/V Management. Thus, the ideal candidate is highly organized, a creative professional, and is eager to learn and grow in sports entertainment and production of live events.
The position will report to the Senior Manager, Stadium A/V Operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Content Management
- Organize, prepare, build, and load digital video, audio, and graphic content for games and events in all stadium A/V systems and control room components. Sources include but are not limited to: Ross Xpression (LED and CG), Click Effects, IPTV, etc.
- Coordinate with the Stadium Events department and third-party contractors to determine content display needs and ensure all requests are met in a timely manner prior to ticketed and private events.
- Coordinate content delivery, ingestion, conversion, formatting and display/distribution for all stadium events.
- Maintain all digital content databases and redundant backups, including archiving game and event program feeds.
- Create and edit graphic and video content as requested while being attentive to design details including composition, typography, formatting, and spelling.
- Modify, export, and mockup graphics in Photoshop, Premiere and other Adobe Creative Suite products as needed.
Live Event Coverage & Administrative Support
- Provide coverage of stadium events as scheduled. Coordinate with department supervisors and stadium Event Managers on event needs and client requests. Provide administrative support, including but not limited to crew credentialing, call sheets, event notes and parking.
- Operate LED, video and/or graphic playback systems, IPTV system, audio systems, and other equipment as assigned.
- Track department preventive, predictive and/or required repairs and maintenance. Alert management of any needed repairs and/or replacement.
- Maintain physical and digital inventory as assigned. Items include but are not limited to video/graphic content; Xpression project files; Click Effects show files; physical stadium AV equipment and supplies.
- Assist Stadium AV team with organizing and cleaning of spaces and equipment, including control room, storage spaces, amp rooms, patch rooms, etc.
- Additional and/or other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year College or University required, preferably in Film, Television, Multi-Media, Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, Sports Marketing, Broadcasting, or other related disciplines.
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in professional sports production, A/V production, and/or presentation required.
- Basic understanding of audio and video fundamentals required.
- Must have prior stadium or large venue experience. Familiarity with event venue operations, scheduling, and the emphasis on the guest experience.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and other graphic/video editing software required.
- General knowledge and strong desire to familiar self with control room technology and equipment, including but not limited to: multiviewers, digital video & graphic playback machines, replay systems, switchers, CG equipment, HD cameras (including RF, stationary & PTZ), camera shading & remote/robotic operation, communication systems, digital projectors, audio systems (including microphones, amplifiers, speakers, monitors, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Ross Xpression systems preferred.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and continuing education to develop and maintain proficiency.
- Ability to utilize TeamViewer to remote-control and deploy graphics to stadium A/V systems.
- Ability to read and understand technical materials, including instruction/repair manuals, service contracts, agreements, warranty-related materials, CAD diagrams, blueprints, etc., preferred.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize efficiently and quickly.
- Self-starter – able to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Must possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and great attention to detail. Ability to maintain composure in fast-paced and stressful environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively, efficiently, and professionally – both verbally and in writing.
- Must possess high ethical and moral standards; strong sense of confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task, problem solve, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes.
- Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other departments; able to receive and implement instructions effectively.
- Flexible schedule. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular/extended hours in addition to regular business hours as dictated by the ever-changing stadium event schedule.
SALARY RANGE
At LAFC, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational needs. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the overall compensation for this role is $24.00 per hour.
