Salary Range $57.43-73.27 plus applicable shift differential
Job Summary Administers routine and advanced respiratory therapy procedures to patients of all ages in all areas of the hospital, as prescribed by a physician, and under the direction of the Director or Shift Leader. Performs other related duties as assigned, including EKG. In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required.
Education Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent, required
Associate degree and graduate from a recognized JRCRTE/AMA approved two (2) year Respiratory Care program
Actively Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board for Respiratory Care or five (5) years recent experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner at WHHS
Work Experience
Meets all requirements of RCP I, and II’s
2 years critical care experience or two years experience in both Pulmonary Rehab and PFT’s at WHHS
Licensure/Certifications
Licensed (RCP) by the Respiratory Care Board of the State of California, required. Must provide the department with a copy of valid RCP license initially, and upon subsequent renewal and/or change of status.
Actively Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), or 5 years recent experience as a RCP at WHHS.
Required certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) present and maintain valid card, and provide department with a copy for our records.
Required certification from American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) present and maintain valid card, and provide department with a copy for our records.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of normal and abnormal physiology related to the respiratory system. Understanding of the indication, appropriateness, contraindications, and side effects of various medications and treatment techniques is required.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to organize work, set priorities and perform detailed work.
Respiratory Dept:
Advanced Care, including but not limited to: intubationassist, artificial airway management, ventilator management, critical care transports, bronchoscopies (diagnostic and therapeutic)
Proficient in Respiratory Therapy driven protocols andstrategies, including but not limited to: Flolan therapy, ICU Ventilator management and Weaning protocols, Bronchodilator protocol, Pediatric Asthma protocol, LungProtection Strategies (ARDSnet)
Serves as subject matter expert inSCN/Pediatrics/Maternal Health, ICU/IMC,ED/Trauma, or as an EPIC Super User/trainer
Serves as Lead or proficient in working within the Special Care Nursery (NICU II)
Assists with Bedside Bronchoscopies
Must teach one education presentation or participate in a Process Improvement Project on an annual basis
Serves as Critical Care Resource, Clinical Resource, and Preceptor for RCP I, and II’s
