The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.
As a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer Manager in the Cloud Supply Chain Organization, you will lead the team responsible for providing manufacturing support and guidance for Google Cloud's Hardware products. You will launch new products in Contract Manufacturer (CM), Original Design Manufacturer (ODM), and Joint Development (JDM) environments. For our Cloud products, you will deliver advanced mechanical manufacturing engineering and Design for Excellence (DFx) expertise through the leadership of your team.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $159,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - Lead a team of highly competent Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Experts, to deliver Cloud Hardware to our customers.
- Develop a technical, communication, and leadership understanding with the Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Staff.
- Inform and lead appropriate organizational and business transformations to enhance operational capability and predictability of the Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering function.
- Build and maintain critical stakeholder relationships with cross-functional leaders of Engineering, Project Management, Commodity Management, Deployment and Quality organizations, representing the Manufacturing Engineering Function.
- Contribute to the advancement of the Technical Operations Community through participation in various organizational development activities.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Process, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience as a Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, or Product Engineer.
- 8 years of experience in people management.
- 6 years of experience managing programs to improve engineering productivity or related areas (e.g., engineering or development throughput, automation, capacity, cost, speed, or effectiveness).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering.
- Experience developing solid, effective technical relationships with contract manufacturers.
- Experience with product data management systems (Agile, Windchill) and 3D CAD modeling tools, such as SolidWorks or Pro Engineer.
- Leadership experience leading Manufacturing Engineering teams for Hardware development.
- Understanding of precision sheet metal fabrication processes (NC punching, press brake forming, hardware insertion processes), hard tooling fabrication processes (metal stamping), plastic injection molding processes, and electro-mechanical assembly.
