About SAP’s Communications Team
SAP’s Global Communications (GC) organization leads programs focused on building and protecting SAP’s reputation and supporting the company’s profitable growth. To do so, GC’s 300+ employees engage with analysts, bloggers, employees, influencers, as well as social and traditional media across all regions and countries where SAP does business. We develop and lead campaigns and programs which tell powerful stories about SAP’s impact on the world and with customers. The team is a hub for creativity, big ideas, strong opinions, and approaches which challenge the norm.
As part of GC, our Solution Communications organization is responsible for shaping and driving SAP’s innovation narrative and developing an integrated communications strategy and execution plan aligned to SAP’s growth goals. At the heart of our innovation story is SAP Business AI. With its powerful analytics and artificial intelligence capabilities, SAP Business AI offers enterprises a strategic advantage by providing real-time insights, automating processes, and enabling predictive analytics.
Purpose & Objectives
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Communications to build and lead our SAP Business AI communications team. In this role, you will define and execute an integrated communications strategy that elevates our storytelling for a tier 1 audience in support of SAP Business AI’s capabilities, latest innovations, and the outcomes its driving for our customers. The strategy will integrate Analyst Relations, Public Relations, executive communications, employee communications, and content, and in close partnership with marketing.
The ideal candidate has public relations, executive communications and/or corporate messaging experience, and can proactively develop communications plans and strategies that will help us shape and drive perceptions of SAP Business AI in the market. This role will report to the Global VP, Solution Communications.
Expectations & Tasks
In this role, you will:
- Build and drive an integrated communications plan for internal and external audiences, collaborating closely with AR, PR, and Marketing teams to elevate our storytelling to tier 1 audiences.
- Lead a global group of communications professionals, inspiring confidence and collaboration.
- Develop thought-provoking messaging to influence key audiences, including talking points, speeches, blogs, and press releases.
- Own the content strategy, messaging, and execution of key programs, including podcasts, webinars, and other virtual and in-person events.
- Partner with marketing and communications to provide narrative and storytelling support on messaging, value props, and other materials to drive consistent, credible, and differentiated content.
- Establish proven methodologies and procedures to guide consistent and quality communications across all teams and regions.
- Become an expert on recent AI and tech trends, news, and social media coverage, and industry research to proactively provide recommendations for forward-thinking content development.
- Work collaboratively with global employee communications to ensure employees understand SAP’s Business AI approach from strategy to execution.
- Be a communications advisor to the SAP Business AI senior leadership team, and SAP’s board, on the most effective and engaging strategies and tools to shape positive perceptions of, and drive growth for the business.
Demonstrated Qualities
- Product communications and/or PR superstar with top-notch executive presence
- Proven track-record for elevating a company’s solutions and using creative strategies that help companies break through the noise.
- Exceptional writer and editor – prose is clear, concise, and impactful, with a goal of developing a unique point of view.
- Able to assess a situation or business challenge and make quick recommendations on communications strategies.
- Adaptable and highly functional in a dynamic, fast-paced, and changing environment.
- Versatile with ability to shift between tactical and strategic thinking.
- Demonstrated strength in working collaboratively with, and across, a variety of global, cross-functional teams, strong influencer skills.
- Can effectively navigate and manage competing priorities.
- Adept at bringing people together to achieve a common goal.
Minimum Qualifications
- 15-20+ years formal communications experience, preferably in Public Relations and/or corporate positioning
- Team leadership experience: can motivate and align a team toward a single plan, with aligned messaging and coordinated execution.
- A pro at developing powerful stories, has superb writing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 242300 - 539700 (USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
