Works closely with the Library’s outreach and marketing staff to ensure a trustworthy and professional presentation in digital and physical media through user interface design, web design, and graphic design. Performs usability evaluations for development teams. Defines user requirements and internal structures for products or services in development.
Use your outstanding graphic design and user research skills to enhance user experience. UCSF Library is seeking a UX Designer to partner in collaboration with Library staff to ensure a consistent user experience across digital and physical touchpoints.
As a UX Designer, you will:
Collaborate with library staff to support the production and delivery of high-quality outreach and marketing resources.
In alignment with the Library’s Strategic Plan, be a strong collaborative partner on project-based teams and other efforts related to the strategic plan implementation.
Generate UX design, service design, and communications deliverables utilizing the Library’s service design principles and branding best practices.
Design and facilitate the implementation of innovative technological solutions that enhance services, outreach, and impact.
Perform user testing and research, analyze results, make design recommendations based on your findings, and help implement the design changes including (for digital services) content and layout updates to web pages and web page testing.
Help shape the design culture, marketing strategies, and services of the Library in a supportive, collaborative environment that values professional development and work/life balance.
Collaborate to align library services with the UCSF education and research missions.
Facilitate equitable access to Library services and communications.
Actively participate in the continued transformation of the library into the virtual and physical heart of the University.

Experience facilitating ideation/design sessions with users and/or internal stakeholders.
Experience designing for content management systems like WordPress.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
3 years of professional experience in user experience.
1-year graphic design experience.
A user-centered design approach and a solutions-oriented, iterative process.
Experience with quantitative analysis (i.e. site analytics, user testing, heat maps) and translating data into actionable design recommendations.
Strong communication skills and the ability to present findings in a compelling, visual way.
Enthusiasm, patience, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
