Reporting to the Patient Care Director of Central Resources, the Unit Director of the Central Resource Group, will manage the Nursing Administrative Office and Adult Resource Team. The Unit Director is directly responsible for ensuring the quality of patient care delivered by all adult resource team personnel and has direct oversight over programs under the purview of the Nursing Administrative Office and its operations, including the Transport RN program and the Discharge Lounge. The department includes the Hospital Supervisors who provide 24/7 administrative oversight over general hospital operations at all 3 UCSF sites – Parnassus, Mission Bay, Mount Zion.
The adult resource team provides exceptional quality of care to a wide range of acute and critically ill adult patients. Staff are highly trained and have the competency to care for a multitude of patient populations with varied levels of complexity in care. All resource team members have the capability to be assigned to any adult in-patient unit/area at Parnassus, Mission Bay and Mount Zion, including patients in the Emergency Department and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
The Nursing Administrative Office provides 24/7 administrative service to all Medical Center personnel. Nursing Office operations which include management of centralized staffing and resource allocation at all 3 UCSF sites, attendance tracking, monitoring/tracking of RN licensure and required certifications, and maintenance of the electronic scheduling system.

- Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant area preferred
- ANCC RN specialty certification in Nurse Executive or Nurse Executive-Advanced
- Experience with oversight of nursing and administrative operations in large and / or multiple patient care areas
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Nursing required
- Registered Nurse in the State of California
- Progressive and recent nursing administration and leadership experience in an academic medical center at the assistant unit director or above level (within the last 5 years)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a lead/supervisory/management role
- BLS by American Heart Association
- ACLS by American Heart Association
- Flexibility to work at all UCSF locations as needed
- Strong hospital management experience, with progressive and in-depth expertise in patient care services
- Knowledge of hospital / clinic operations in a hospital or medical center setting; knowledge of appropriate professional standards for the department and team
- Strong knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes
- Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to foster and promote an environment for effective communication and collaborative decision making across multiple units and disciplines
- Excellent leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines
- Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration, and consistent achievement of objectives
