SUMMARY: The Harrisburg City School District is expanding on the opportunities to provide after school and summer programs to Refugee families. The (RSIG) STEAM Camp and Afterschool program are an innovative program of learning opportunities. The purpose of the program is to provide 6 week summer program for Refugee children and families to experience and participate in STEAM and Mindfulness activities to close’ academic and emotional gaps caused by breaks in educational services and family stability. The program will explicitly teach coping skills to manage the impact and effects of traumatic events. The Afterschool program provides explicit instruction in literacy and language development.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES: The Coordinator oversees the planning of STEAM and Mindfulness events, including securing presenters, ordering curriculum resources, organizing and planning for summer camps, completes necessary paperwork for building usage, food service, time and effort for staff, coordinating transportation, ordering of materials and supplies. Creates reports and maintains all files and forms for grant compliance. The RSIG Paraprofessional assist in the planning of STEAM and Mindfulness events, including delivering curriculum resources, organizing and planning for summer camps and working directly with scholars.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or working toward Associate Degree Human Services/Education, or equivalent experience in refugee client services and/or case management.
Excellent reasoning ability and good judgment while representing the program.
High professional and ethical standards
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including spelling and grammar. Bilingual is preferred.
Basic mathematic computation skills are a must.
The manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and the following computer skills are expected:
Fluency in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Publisher.
Proficiency in use of email, including address groups, forwarding, file attachment, organizing computer files etc.
Experience with data entry, speed and accuracy in service data entry.
Experience in any other computer application programs a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to work effectively in a team environment. This position will be based out of the Harrisburg School District buildings. SALARY: $25.00 per hour, not to exceed 150 hours in the grant year WORK CONTRACT: 2024-2025 School Year
