Summary | CBU’s Director of Marketing guides the development and implementation of the university’s integrated marketing strategies as a means of achieving CBU’s recruiting, retention and advancement goals. This position supervises the Marketing Manager for Enrollment and collaborates with a team of marketing and communications professionals, including marketing managers, specialists, writers, art directors, graphic designers, web content managers and developers, photographers, videographers, and student workers. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities | Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Executes CBU’s brand and strategic messaging through a fully integrated, central marketing and communications program that includes branding initiatives, message development, and message delivery; market research, tracking, and metrics; marketing and communications campaigns that target key audiences (prospective students, donors, alumni, trustees, students, faculty, staff, parents, general public); publications and print collateral; web sites and online communications, including CBU’s calbaptist.edu website; social media; advertising; events and sponsorships; multimedia (video/photography/digital); and institutional/corporate identity/brand management.
- Supervises, trains and manages Marketing Manager for Enrollment, department employees, student workers and vendors.
- Ideate and implement university-wide advertising campaigns (print, electronic, digital, online, and outdoor, etc.) to raise awareness of and affinity for the CBU brand.
- Regularly communicates the short-term goals and initiatives of the marketing division and shares campaign updates/stories to encourage participation and ownership of the campaign across all university units.
- Works alongside admissions departments to supply them with marketing strategies and tools that support CBU’s student recruitment initiatives.
- Ensures that the calbaptist.edu web site communicates and markets the university’s programs in a clear and consistent manner that supports CBU’s branding strategies and institutional priorities.
- Work with the web team to ensure that the calbaptist.edu web site complies with all local/federal rules and regulations.
- Develops and maintains web sites and pages for administrative offices, schools, colleges, departments, and units.
- Coordinates closely with academic, and administrative units to develop and implement marketing and communications programs designed to achieve their business goals while maintaining consistency with the CBU brand.
- Build positive relationships with other brand stakeholders within the university.
- Collaborate with members of the Communications team to maintain a cohesive marketing and communication strategy.
- Manages and administers budgetary resources assigned by Senior Director of Marketing and Brand.
- Share and consistently express division’s commitment to express Christ’s attitude of service, excellence, humility and dignity in each interaction with university clients and external vendors.
- Remain up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in marketing strategy and practice ensuring CBU’s marketing investments and efforts take advantage of contemporary research and application best practices.
- Monitors internal and external usage of all university logos/marks/branding for violations and enforces branding guidelines and best practices.
- Work with third-party licensing partner to ensure the consistency and integrity of the CBU brand.
- Provide learning/training opportunities for other university colleagues to learn about the services offered by the Marketing and Communication Department.

Supervisory Responsibilities | Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervises, trains, and manages Marketing Manager for Enrollment, department employees, student workers and vendors. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. |

Education and/or Experience | Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field from a four-year college or university; Master’s degree preferred; five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. |
