On Call As Needed; Day to Day Substitute
Under supervision, performs skilled mechanical overhaul, repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel powered transportation vehicles and other District mechanical equipment; assists in the operation and maintenance of the Transportation Department; and performs related work as required.
Positions in this class receive supervision from the Transportation Director; diagnoses and
performs overhaul, repair and preventative maintenance of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel powered engines. Incumbents rebuild, fabricate, weld and repair all other vehicle components including frames and bodies.

Requirements / Qualifications
TRAINING AND EXPRIENCE
Equivalent to the completion of the tenth grade supplemented by vocational automotive mechanics courses; five years journeyman level experience as an automotive mechanic, including work with gasoline and diesel engines, framing and body work; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities; good driving record and a work history demonstrating dependability and reliability.

If you are selected to move on in the process, you will be notified through email. If you are successful with the job hiring process, you will be required to attend a Substitute Orientation which lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours. Documents required to complete the Substitute new hire process to be turned in at the Substitute Orientation: Drivers License, Social Security Card, copies TB Test or Chest X Ray. Costs range from $64 - $69 depending on which you require. You will be given fingerprint information upon invitation to our Substitute Orientation. After the Substitute Orientation you will be required to complete an Online Safety Training course.
