The Regional Transit Authority gets people moving around New Orleans. Our transit services bring hard-working commuters to their jobs, students to their schools, and fun seekers to entertainment, shopping areas, and restaurants. We provide mobility to residents of the city as well as tourists, taking them to and from their hotels to historical neighborhoods and countless attractions. RTA’s system includes 5 streetcar lines, 30 bus routes, 2 ferry routes, and paratransit services. Our passengers take more than 19 million rides every year.

JOB SUMMARY
Performs support duties of equal opportunity programs and labor relations policies, including experience and solid knowledge of labor relation contracts, EEOC law, racial equity, and social justice to support the department’s workforce needs.

• Tracks and maintains logs, records, and filing systems for grievances, complaints, corrective action, discipline, and other documentation
• Compiles and collects data
• Prepares reports and correspondence
• Responds to and resolves employee inquiries courteously; provides information within the area of assignment
• Assist with investigations regarding employee relations, discrimination, and other employment-related matters
• Performs a variety of special projects relative to assigned responsibilities
• Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends, legislation, and innovations in the field of labor relations and human resources
• Contributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of RTA are carried out
• Performs other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field

OR: An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position's duties

EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of relevant transit/transportation experience performing work in labor relations, civil rights compliance, or another related program

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS
A valid Louisiana Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions

Must submit to a criminal background check, the results of which must meet hiring criteria for the role.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times. (The company to determine if the position is a safety-sensitive position).

• Standard contract language and techniques of interpretation and application - Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
• Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing human resources management for a public agency EEO and Affirmative Action rules and regulations
• Understand, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, contracts, laws, regulations, and labor/ management agreements
• Researching and reporting preparation methods
• Organizing and writing technical memoranda, reports, settlement proposals, etc.
• Preparing clear and concise reports
• Must be proficient in maintaining accurate digital and paper records
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Meet tight constraints and deadlines
