Plans, manages, and coordinates the multifaceted aspects of the instructional and operational employee evaluation programs, provides consultation and coaching to managers concerning progressive discipline, performance improvement, employee grievances, and dismissal processes; oversees employee performance management practices; acts as the subject matter expert in all aspects of employee performance management; exercises leadership to assess, design, implement, and continually improve the division's performance management practices; stays current with developments in human resources best practices and the law relating to employment.
Required
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in human resources, public administration, business management, business administration, or a related field.
Six (6) years of progressively more responsible experience conducting investigations in the area of human rights and classification of occupational classes, two (2) years of which shall have been supervising and managing staff.
Knowledge of theories, procedures, practices, materials, methods, regulations, and/or legislation related to discrimination based on a protected class.
Knowledge of personnel management and investigating and documenting occupational class studies.
Skill in personnel, financial, and administrative management.
Proficiency in the use of technology, data compilation, analysis, and reporting.
Substantial writing and analytical skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously, adjusting quickly to daily changes.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of staff, taking corrective action as needed.
Ability to deal with stressful situations while maintaining composure.
Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory collaborative working relationships with local law enforcement, department and school-based staff, and peers.
Demonstrated integrity and sound judgment in performing duties with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information.
Ability to facilitate meetings and/or present information to groups.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels within the Division.
Preferred
Masters or other advanced degree.
Experience working in an educational environment (k-12 or higher ed).
Certification in conflict resolution and/or mediation.
