| Diversity Statement | The LaFetra College of Education (LFCE) at the University of La Verne invites applications for a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Teacher Education. Screening of applications begins in May 2024 and continues until the position is filled.

| Job Description Summary | Non-tenure track (NTT) faculty are expected to contribute mainly through teaching and administrative duties, such as supporting regional office adjuncts and supervisors, managing schedules, and advising students. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Multiple Subject, Single Subject Credential/ Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program, and/or the Education Specialist program. Faculty must complete all assigned duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures, and university core values.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in course and program development and implementation in the Multiple Subject, Single Subject credential/ MAT program and/or the Education Specialist program, with specific focus on regional campuses in Bakersfield and Santa Clarita.
- Advise students from beginning to end of graduate program, with a focus on support and retention of all students.
- Teach afternoon and evening courses, in-person and online
- Collaborate and provide leadership with faculty in Teacher Education in program initiatives/ projects.
- Maintain high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through professional development activities.
- Review, evaluate, reflect on, and revise program curricula and teaching methods through a self-evaluation process of self-reflection.
- Work with the department Director to provide program level leadership.
Student Centered Duties and responsibilities:
- Serve as regional faculty coordinator and point of contact for students regarding program policies and procedures.
- Work at the Bakersfield and Santa Clarita locations at least once per week.
- Support students in clinical fieldwork, student teaching, and internships.
- Support regional faculty, adjuncts, and university supervisors.
- Attend regional meetings in the community and with local districts to promote and represent the university.
- Participate in college-related activities such as registration, student retention, and faculty selection.
- Maintain posted office hours, electronic communication, schedule appointments as needed, and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Evaluate student work constructively and provide timely feedback.
- Review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials.
- Review, evaluate, and revise teaching methods through a self-evaluation/self-reflection process.
- Develop and use a syllabus and course information material for each course, laboratory, or clinical setting within state, college, and departmental guidelines within University’s learning management system.
- Plan, develop, and use effective teaching methods and materials which are appropriate for students with diverse educational and experiential backgrounds and engages the students in learning.
- Contribute to advancing the goals of the department and university including focus on student achievement, supporting diversity, and fostering community engagement.
- Maintain high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through professional development activities.
- Meet or exceed professional standards, APA mandated guidelines, and discipline-specific requirements, as appropriate to the discipline.
- Participate in activities required to maintain program accreditation standards as well as professional organizations (as appropriate)
- Contribute to programs and activities that support departmental goals.
- Participate in full regalia in official graduation ceremonies.
