Primary Duties
Participates in facility suicide risk assessments, safety walks, site inspections, and on-going monitoring of systems that involve building, fire, and emergency codes as well as the Environmental Health and Safety protocols set forth by the agency.
Conducts environmental safety inspections and suicide risk assessments monthly. Attends Safety meetings and or trainings when applicable.
Participates in safety orientation for new hires or learning portal development and trainings.
Creates, follows up and monitors facility and Critical Incident Reports, safety inspections, and procedures.
Acts as liaison with Environmental Safety Committee, and implements/follows through on their recommendations; issues and maintains first aid kits; obtains and issues earthquake and other emergency supplies; coordinates additional supplies at other sites.
Oversees maintenance schedule for Agency-owned vehicles including service contracts and vendors; ensures vehicles are routinely inspected for safety issues and serviced in accordance with schedules.
Secondary Duties
Tours buildings and grounds, checks/inspects equipment on a daily basis to check for problems; determines priorities and makes repairs; discusses problems with supervisor.
Performs any or all of the following maintenance duties:
Makes plumbing repairs including leaky or plugged faucets, pipes and waste lines
Repairs and erects wall partitions, shelves, fences, floors, doors and other related items
Installs/repairs equipment such as kitchen appliances, fans and other items
Installs/repairs windows and screens
Repairs/installs locks
Hangs drapery rods and drapes or blinds
Repairs and replaces floor coverings
Moves furniture, equipment, supplies
Assigns set up and break down of meeting rooms; sets up refreshments and audiovisual equipment; ensures proper storage and maintenance of audiovisual equipment.
Paints/decorates interior and exterior surfaces
Runs errands, using personal or agency vehicle to pick up supplies, etc.
Position Requirements
Should possess a strong safety background.
Proficient in Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Should possess strong analysis abilities, creative thinking and ability to problem solve on an organization-wide basis.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, including customer service focus in working with all internal organizational levels and external contacts.
Exceptional organizational skills detail-oriented to review information and ensure accuracy.
A working knowledge of building operations including institutional maintenance, safety regulations, painting, carpentry, plumbing and custodial functions.
Ability to lift and perform physical labor.
Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and ability to determine the need for outside service and repair of facilities and equipment or use inside staff to perform jobs.
Basic purchasing and inventory control skills.
Working knowledge of the telecommunications systems.
Leadership skills.
A commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
Ability to adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
Current California driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
