| Departmental Overview |
| The Mathematical and Physical Sciences Diversity Office (MPS Diversity) works collaboratively across the Berkeley Math and Physical Sciences division to implement initiatives, evaluate and provide diversity-focused programming. The Project & Policy Analyst assists in policy and program planning for new and existing initiatives, involving proposal development, administration, management, and implementation. This Analyst will also interpret, monitor, and analyze specific information regarding campus policies and procedures as they relate to MPS Diversity Office programming. This is a part time (50% FTE) position. |

| Responsibilities |
| 35% Project Management and Program Coordination: Assists with proposals, reports, and project management. Develops scope of work and reports for project requirements. Coordinates efforts with a variety of external and internal partners. Provides technical guidance and quality assessment for implemented programming. Collaborates with project leadership to develop plan in accordance with project vision and deliverables and communicate to partners to ensure timely completion 30% Communications: Edits and develops content communicating the need, structure, and goals for existing and new initiatives for outreach materials including presentations, data visualizations, brochures, and websites. 20% HR Support: Supports Assistant Dean and Associate Director with staffing needs by writing job descriptions, hiring, training, and supervising student employees, and preparing descriptions, coordinating hiring, and conducting orientations to the unit for new staff members. Collaborates with ERSO and with HR to fast-track all the time-intensive bureaucratic requirements, ensures job is posted, consults with project leadership and Asst Dean to identify appropriate search committee members, drafts questions, organizes search committee meetings, drafts communication with candidates, staffs the search committee, onboards the new staff member, including provisioning their office etc. 10% Data Management: Responsible for data management, storage and use in accordance with program requirements, laws and policies (e.g. FERPA). Assists with coordination, data collection, and analysis, as needed for research, evaluation, and program assessment.Considers CPHS requirements and other confidentiality requirements and arranges appropriate data collection, storage and access systems for each project. Ensures data storage is secure and no data is lost or shared with unauthorized users. 5% Proposes, leads, coordinates and/or participates on policy and planning committees and working groups internally and externally. |
| Required Qualifications |
| - Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposal/analyses.
- Advanced organizational and project management skills, and ability to multi-task with demanding time frames.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to communicate ideas effectively.
- Creativity and technical skills for use in visual and electronic communications.
- Knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs such as Smartsheet, Excel, and Google Workspace.
- Experience hiring, training, supervising, and managing employees.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. FERPA training.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $33.57 to $40.71 hourly. This is a 50% FTE career position eligible for full benefits. |
