Job Description
The Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.
We are seeking a 6-month Co-op to join our Structural Chemistry group in the Protein and Structural Chemistry (PSC) department within Discovery Chemistry. Our group utilizes multidisciplinary approaches to discover, optimize, and characterize biologics crystallization conditions suitable for structural, drug delivery and manufacturing applications and advance our drug development pipeline and ultimately help improve the lives of patients.
The Co-op will have the opportunity to work in a protein crystallization lab supporting discovery chemistry, sterile formulations and bioprocess needs. They will have the chance to learn about late-stage drug development from a biochemical perspective and master the laboratory skills needed to deliver high-quality biologics reagents to support therapeutic development programs. Techniques may include biologics sample processing and quantification techniques, discovery crystallization screening (HT screening, imaging) and optimization processing techniques (translation processes to formulation or bioprocesses needs), and crystal characterization (SONICC; protein and crystallinity ID).
The Co-op will fully participate in departmental and project team meetings to provide a broad perspective on the drug development process in the pharmaceutical industry. Co-ops will have the opportunity to gain further knowledge and skill sets via exposure to problems in discovery research, and perspective on the practical aspects of drug development. In addition, Co-ops will have opportunities to internally present results of their research in both oral and written formats. This position is a full time, lab-based position and will be located at our Rahway, NJ research site.
