As members of the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences faculty, MFA providers are teachers and mentors for medical students, residents, fellows, and researchers preserving the rich tradition of academics, research, and healing. In addition to maintaining a closely integrated alliance with The George Washington University and The George Washington University Hospital (GWUH), separately owned and operated by Universal Health Services (UHS), the GW MFA has active referring relationships with 12 area hospitals.

Position Summary
The Clinical Application Analyst is the primary provider of support, information, customer service for application-related issues and opportunities. The role requires a blending of technical skills with a reasonable comprehension of the operational department and their information systems tools and requirements. In addition, this role provides analytical expertise to information systems end users with the overall objective of improving the use of application systems functionality (e.g., enhance workflow, optimize business processes and identify appropriate systems solutions).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
· Acts as the primary support contact for the application’s end-users.
· Identifies issues that arise in their application area as well as issues that impact other application teams, and working to resolve them
· Guides workflow design, builds and tests the system, and analyzes other technical issues associated with Epic software.
· Identifies and implements requested changes to the system.
· Serves as a liaison between end users' workflow needs and Epic implementation staff.
· Communicates all necessary application changes, enhancements, and procedures to all necessary department teams.
· Maintaining regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings.
· Works with Epic representatives, MFA’s business partners, and end users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs especially with regards to the project deliverables and timeline.
· Develops an understanding the clinical and operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows by attending site visits, workflow sessions, and other integrated sessions.
· May participate in the development of end-user training processes and/or curriculum content.
· Troubleshoots problems and questions from end users.
· Reviews the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with manager.
· Attends regular meetings with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones.
· In conjunction with operational subject matter experts, builds application-specific workflows or processes for clinics, practices, and users that could include, for example, visit navigators, preference lists, orders and linked charges, results routing, documentation templates, application-specific rules, questionnaires, flowsheets, reports, SmartForms, visit types, user role templates, schedules, work queues, etc.
· Completes testing cycles (unit, functional and integration testing); includes coordinating with departmental end-users and obtaining customer signoff.
· Works with other clinical application analysts to maintain continuity in process and in support of our integrated Epic electronic medical record.
· Conducts system enhancements/new features, build, upgrades/quarterly updates and optimization.
· Ensures all changes to the application follow approved change management procedures and protocols, create and maintain all documentation for all assigned applications and develop, plan and execute testing for supported applications.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
College Degree Required
Bachelor’s degree (IT/Healthcare Focus Preferred) OR
· Associate’s degree with at least four (4) years’ experience
Licensure/Certification:
Current Epic certification(s) for relevant applications. New hires and transfers have no more than 45 days from completion of MFA-sponsored Epic training to complete any required Epic certifications. Analysts must remain current on Epic Certifications, badges, trainings, and other credentials.
Experience:
3 years minimum experience in healthcare specialty field and/or in a software vender environment preferred. Additional experience may be required based upon assignment.
Competencies:
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions and react favorably in all work situations. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels within and outside the Medical Faculty Associates (MFA). Must be able to do math calculations and input data into the computer.
Physical Requirements
- Walk, stand, and reach outward on a constant basis in an office setting.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 50 lbs. as part of the role.
- Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
