What you’ll be doing...
As a Core Engineer, you will be responsible for defining, engineering equipment, and resolving network capacity requirements for Verizon’s Legacy and iEN Network. You’ll be managing all engineering, maintenance, and enhancements to the Outside Plant Telephony Network, including structures, cables, and associated equipment. This critical role will coordinate with a variety of teams and have direct contact with business and residential customers. You’ll work in diverse environments, both indoors and outdoors, to solve complex problems and implement innovative solutions to keep our customers happy. You will be responsible for engineering equipment design functions for our Legacy network, iEN network and NT Switch shutdowns.
Equipment design function in order to provide a local design solution for the delivery of service.
Designing additions, upgrades, repairs and enhancements.
Selecting and pricing solutions based on the most effective, efficient, and timely design.
Coordinating with internal departments and liaising with residential and business end-users, building contractors, and property owners to implement solutions appropriately.
Creating winning outcomes for both us and our customers.
Preparing detailed cost analysis, project specifications, spend forecasts, requisitions, and business justifications.
Responsibilities incorporate consideration for network planning, equipment engineering, circuit design, and inventory.

What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 3-2024.
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related Technology / Computer Science field or four or more years of work experience.
Experience with windows-based programs and corporate database systems.
Knowledge of Telecom Engineering, Network Build Process, Transport Capacity Management, Experience with Telecommunications networks.
Strong communication skills to quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.
Ability to work well independently, as well as ability to work in a team and enjoy leading colleagues and coordinating efforts to ensure best outcomes.
