Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.
The ability to properly manage payments risk in an ever evolving environment through innovation is a strategic differentiator and enabler of Google’s business growth.
The Payments Risk team is responsible for building and refining Risk Management solutions to protect all of Google businesses from online fraud. We achieve this by systematic and consistent investment in a robust and scalable Risk Platform supporting customizable risk controls while leveraging Google's technology, machine learning, data, tools, and infrastructure. We use Risk Platform capabilities to balance loss reduction with great user experience for Google businesses and to enable sustainable growth in Google's product offerings.
Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - Develop and lead the outlook and strategy for the mitigation of Payments Risk on Google’s digital products.
- Develop and secure buy-in for a product roadmap that identifies, defines, and supports the overall product narrative and direction, achieving an outcome that is greater than the sum of its parts.
- Anticipate evolving payments landscape and emerging regulations that could impact Payments Risk product responsibilities and proactively facilitate products and/or remediations.
- Work closely with Risk and partner engineering and data science teams, risk operations, analytics as well as executives of key vertical customers to drive Risk Platform product strategy and roadmap.
- Drive the business requirements for product launches and other projects by designing products and solutions for all business processes reducing risk, customer impact with increased efficiency using the latest in Google technology.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in product management, consulting, co-founder or related technical role.
- 2 years of experience building and shipping technical products
- Experience in payments or fintech industry.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in a business function or role (e.g., strategic marketing, business operations, consulting).
- 3 years of experience in a role preparing and delivering technical presentations to senior leadership.
- 2 years of experience in software development or engineering.
- 2 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX/UI, sales finance, and other stakeholders.
- Experience in trust and safety, or risk management fields.
- Expertise in core risk and payments infrastructure, data, tools, systems, and workflows
