About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Secured Lending Underwriter to support Customer Credit within Global Receivables & Trade Finance (GRT). Reporting to the GRT Head of Customer Credit, this role will help Wells Fargo clients preserve their capital and stabilize cash flows by providing protection against their commercial customers’ inability to pay for products or services. The team member in this role will use a credit mindset to navigate the difficulties of mitigating risk, while satisfying client needs.
This role requires a thorough understanding of factoring from a Customer Credit perspective and supports the GRT team by performing credit analysis for a large portfolio and assessing and communicating risk quickly and efficiently.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver results that align with Commercial Banking and Commercial Banking line of business priorities and that satisfy Commercial Banking stakeholders and Wells Fargo’s risk management priorities and commitments.
- Use their financial acumen to ensure business financial goals and objectives are met and managed by actively partnering with finance and leading team responsible for developing and executing plans linked to business line growth and profitability objectives.
- Evaluates credit actions according to applicable regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Reviews financial statements, communicates with clients or account debtors, and performs analysis to be used in credit decisions.
- Utilize sole delegated credit approval authority to perform credit decisioning on both individual credit orders and larger client lines with a maximum limit of $1MM.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and internal Operations to ensure the accurate documentation, reporting, and collection of collateral and/or credit enhancements.
- Communicate with Collections, external counsel, and account debtors to ensure accurate monitoring and timely payment of client invoices.
- Proactively monitor account debtor exposure trends (i.e. financials, risk ratings, trade reports, industry reports, and payment trends) to assess the need to decrease or exit exposure in order to limit write-offs.
- Review legal documentation such as letters or credit, non-disclosure agreements, cash collateral agreements, and cross-corporate guarantees to ensure applicable terms, and requirements are incorporated and adhered to.
- Provide guidance to junior associates on credit and industry trends, and product knowledge as applicable.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Secured Lending Underwriting experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 7+ years of relevant experience in commercial banking, commercial lending, credit management and analysis earned in a banking setting or shared service environment
- Experience in Choice
- Knowledge of Commercial Banking Underwriting Practices
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Experience in Stakeholder Management
- Excellent MS Office Skills particularly on MS Excel
- Have good understanding of Financial Statements and activities relating to Financial/Credit Analysis
- Experience in negotiating and comprehension of legal documents (i.e. letters of credit, non-disclosure agreements, cross-corporate guarantees, collateral agreements, etc.)
- Ability to multi-task and work on a variety of time-sensitive tasks / meet deadlines.

138,500.00 - 287,600.00 USD - New York and LA
120,400.00 - 250,000.00 USD - Charlotte, NC
