We are hiring a Payroll Coordinator based out of our St. Thomas, ON office.
This role has a flexible hybrid work environment, with both remote and in office work arrangements.
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the hourly unionized payroll function at Masco Canada Limited; inclusive of corresponding journal entries, hourly labour reporting, and employee maintenance. The Payroll Coordinator is also responsible for supporting in the administration of the pension and group benefits programs for the Masco Canada Limited hourly employees, ensuring accurate documentation and timely processing of enrollments, terminations, and employee changes, as well as monthly verification of group benefits invoices for accuracy.
The Payroll Coordinator ensures organizational compliance with legislation, reporting requirements, internal controls, and third-party stakeholders and maintains accurate records and prepares reports, as needed. The Payroll Coordinator supports in plan changes and enhancements and plays a key role in helping to support system upgrades, testing and other projects as assigned.
What You Will Do:
Process Hourly and Student group biweekly payrolls, including T4 & T4A and related balancing and processing
Support Supervisors/Managers in PGi Time & Attendance processes & training on input of information into PGi, including development and maintenance job aids and support tools
Maintains current knowledge of HR operations and activities, bargaining agreements and contracts, employment related laws and ensures ESA and CBA compliance, interpretation and application relating to payroll processing
Responsible for the administration of benefits and pension including employee enrollments, changes, scheduling information sessions, etc.
Fully trained back-up for the salaried payroll(s) to cover for vacation
Maintain hourly employee data (status changes and additions) into both PGi and JDE
Preparing monthly Journal Entries: hourly labour, accruals, etc.
Acting as a liaison between employees and pension and benefits providers
Recommend improvements to payroll-related internal controls and business processes, carry out payroll accounting and reporting activities, and investigate and resolve payroll errors and discrepancies.
Who You Are:
3-5 years payroll and/or benefit experience, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Knowledge of HR processes and best practices
Analytical skills
Understanding of benefits and pension programs required
Proven track record to take initiative and follow through with projects and meet deadlines with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to build trusting working relationships with employees, managers and HR team and be an effective team player who contributes valuable ideas, opinions and feedback
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to deal with difficult and sensitive issues
