Position Summary
The Department of English at Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Instructor/Artist-In-Residence in Creative Writing (Nonfiction), with experience in an additional genre—fiction, poetry, or hybrid—preferred. This opening is for the 2024-2025 academic year and is a temporary instructor, one-year appointment.
The candidate would be expected to teach 9 credits per semester (3/3 course load), including creative writing courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and other courses in the major and general education program (e.g. literature); serve as a first or second reader for MA/MFA manuscripts; and deliver a public reading and offer a craft workshop as part of Monmouth’s Visiting Writers Series.
The Department of English offers a vibrant environment for its faculty and students. We have undergraduate concentrations in literature and creative writing, a three-year MA/MFA program in creative writing, and MA concentrations in literature, creative writing, and rhetoric. Faculty participate in campus events such as the Visiting Writers Series and work with members of the community on a wide range of creative and scholarly projects.
This is an in-person, on campus, non remote position.
